Setiap orang saya percaya bisa menulis. Menulis dengan sangat baik bahkan. Tapi kalau menulis yang menjual dan terus dicari orang, mungkin tak banyak yang bisa melakukannya.

Kini strateginya akan saya bagikan untuk anda semua. Anda penasaran? Ya, sebaiknya iya. Tapi pesan saya, setelah anda pelajari, tolong langsung ACTION. Agar ilmu yang anda serap bisa bermanfaat.

Ok. Langsung saja. Bagaimana membuat produk informasi yang menjual? Dan apa rahasianya?


Rahasianya adalah memiliki kemampuan menulis sama baiknya dengan keahlian marketing. Bukan zamannya lagi kalau seorang penulis hanya mampu menulis saja. Tapi juga dituntut untuk dapat memasarkan hasil karyanya, tanpa selalu hanya tergantung bagian pemasaran.

Banyak kasus membuktikan justru pemasaran yang baik mampu mendongkrak produk yang biasa saja. 1. Topiknya menjual. Artinya topiknya memang dibutuhkan orang banyak. Tidak cuma beberapa orang saja yang membutuhkannya. Sebaiknya juga topiknya membahas aspek primer dari hidup manusia dan yang terus dibutuhkan sepanjang hidup manusia. Misalnya tentang keuangan, kesejahteraan, cara mencari uang, cara mencari kerja, dst. So, selalu tanyakan setiap anda berniat membuat produk informasi, apakah topik ini dibutuhkan banyak orang dan sepanjang zaman?
2. Pelajari yang anda suka dan tuliskan pengalaman anda itu. Setelah anda tetapkan topiknya, terus coba cari apa kira-kira yang menarik minat anda. Lalu anda hanya perlu belajar tentang hal yang anda sukai itu. Cukup luangkan waktu 2-3 jam sehari untuk mempelajari bidang yang menarik minat anda itu. Sambil belajar anda praktekkan ilmu yang anda miliki. Dan setelahnya anda bisa tuliskan ilmu yang telah anda pelajari dan praktekkan itu.
3. Kuasai copywriting. Sebagai penulis produk informasi, anda harus kuasai copywriting. Baik untuk menulis sales letter maupun dalam berpromosi. anda bisa meningkatkan kemampaun anda dengan membaca buku tentang copywriting. Sentuhan Personal: Penting untuk Membuat Konsumen Anda Loyal

Suatu saat, anda tengah berdiri di pinggir jalan. Lalu tiba-tiba ada orang yang menyapa anda. Menanyakan kabar anda dan seterusnya. Bagaimana perasaan anda?

Wah, pasti anda akan senang. Sambil diam-diam dalam hati merasa jadi orang terkenal. Tapi bukan itu yang penting. Yang penting kemudian anda juga akan memberikan perhatian pada orang yang menyapa anda itu. Dan bahkan berusaha mengenalnya lebih jauh.

Contoh lainnya misalnya, suatu ketika anda bertemu dengan teman lama anda. Dan anda langsung bercakap dengan bahasa daerah teman anda itu. Pasti dia akan merasa senang. Walhasil hubungan anda jadi lebih akrab.


Inilah salah satu keajaiban sentuhan personal. Mereka yang semula sama sekali tak peduli pada anda, bisa langsung berubah 180 derajat. Memberikan perhatian pada anda dan menganggap anda sebagai temannya. Dan ingat, teman adalah aset yang tak ternilai.

Penggunaan sentuhan personal dalam bisnis internet amat penting. Bukan cuma untuk berkomunikasi, tapi lebih dari itu untuk menumbuhkan loyalitas konsumen.

Sentuhan personal juga lebih murah. Tak semahal kalau anda beriklan. Anda cukup mengingat nama mereka, apa hobi mereka, dan memberikan senyuman tulus. Dan saya jamin mereka akan memberikan perhatian yang lebih pada bisnis anda.

Memang menggunakan sentuhan personal hasilnya tak langsung kelihatan. Karena perlu berhubungan dengan konsumen secara satu per satu. Tapi saya yakin hasilnya akan lebih kekal. Konsumen anda loyal dan akan terus mengingat bisnis anda. Mereka akan menjadi pelanggan setia.

Nah, sekarang bagaimana sentuhan personal semacam ini bisa anda gunakan di bisnis internet?

Prinsipnya sama, hargai klien dengan memberikan pelayanan yang manusiawi. Seperti contoh di atas, sapalah klien anda dengan menyebut namanya saat anda mengirim pesan. Jika hal itu tidak mungkin anda lakukan secara manual, ada mesin autoresponder yang siap membantu.

Cara lainnya, ajaklah klien anda bercanda saat berkomunikasi. Buat mereka merasa nyaman dengan guyonan anda. Ini yang kemarin dilakukan presiden Obama untuk menjaring dukungan. Saat berkampanye di internet Obama tak pernah menganggap dirinya sebagai calon presiden Amerika. Ia memperlakukan teman-temannya di Facebook seperti seorang sahabat. Tidak hanya bicara masalah politik dan pemerintahan, Obama bahkan sering bercerita tentang hal yang lebih intim dengan para pendukungnya. Melalui cara seperti ini Obama bisa menjaga loyalitas pendukungnya hingga ia terpilih.

Bagaimana dengan anda? Apakah anda siap memberi sentuhan personal pada konsumen anda? Bicaralah seperti orang yang sedang duduk bersama di sebuah warung makan kepada mereka.

Anda Sudah Melakukan Personal Selling untuk Bisnis Internet Anda?

Untuk meningkatkan penjualan produk atau bisnis anda, sudah tentu marketing jadi andalannya. Dalam marketing sendiri banyak sekali jurusnya. Baik beriklan, melakukan promosi, mengadakan pameran, direct marketing, maupun personal selling.

Nah, kali ini yang akan dibahas adalah personal selling di bisnis internet. Anda siap?


Sebelumnya mari kita bahas arti personal selling. Personal selling adalah teknik komunikasi personal untuk menginformasikan sesuatu, mempengaruhi, atau mengingatkan pada prospek tentang sebuah penawaran. Tujuan personal selling jelas apalagi kalau bukan untuk meningkatkan penjualan, serta mengurangi tingkat penolakan konsumen. Mengapa bisa? Sebab biasanya pendekatan personal akan jauh lebih dahsyat efeknya dibanding dengan penawaran yang bersifat massal.

Di bisnis offline, personal selling termasuk komunikasi marketing berbiaya mahal. Wajar saja, karena seorang marketer harus menemui prospek satu demi satu, menjelaskan ke tiap prospek yang tentu makan waktu, dan butuh perlengkapan yang tak sedikit. Sebagai hitung-hitungan saja, kalau setiap marketer offline misalkan butuh waktu 1 jam untuk setiap prospek, maka sehari hanya mampu menemui sekitar 8 prospek.

Di internet? Jauh lebih banyak!

Dengan internet, anda bisa melakukan personal selling dengan sangat sangat sangat hemat dan jauh lebih cepat. Tak sampai keringatan karena berburu klien dari satu tempat ke tempat lain. Cukup dari meja kerja anda, dan anda bisa memprospek dan melayani para konsumen dengan sangat nyaman. Enak kan?

Bagaimana proses personal selling?

Proses personal selling biasanya diawali dari memprospek customer, memilah dan memilih prospek yang berkualitas, lalu mengembangkan hubungan baik, kemudian berlanjut ke penyampaian pesan penawaran.

Nah berikutnya anda harus siap dengan lontaran pertanyaan yang muncul dari konsumen. Karena itu penguasaan pengetahuan produk dengan baik wajib hukumnya. Bila tidak, anda bisa gelagapan menjawab pertanyaan konsumen.

Contoh yang berhasil antara lain seperti Mas Yono Andrianto dan Bu Titik. Mas Yono menurut saya cukup berhasil dalam melakukan personal selling lewat internet, sedang Bu Titik cukup bagus secara offline. Karena sudah menguasai produk yang dipasarkan, maka mereka mampu menjelaskan dengan baik produk-produk yang dipasarkan.

Dan proses berikutnya berlanjut ke mengclosing penawaran. Ini salah satu proses penting. Pastikan dalam setiap proses personal selling yang anda lakukan, closing tak ketinggalan. Tutup setiap penawaran anda dengan closing!

Sudah selesai?

Belum. Bila mereka kemudian bergabung dengan layanan yang anda tawarkan, maka berikutnya anda wajib menyediakan layanan dan dukungan untuk mereka. Bentuknya bisa seperti konsultasi gratis, atau dukungan terhadap mereka. Dan anda tetap harus menjaga hubungan baik dengan mereka.

Kalaupun kemudian mereka belum bergabung dengan anda, anda tetap wajib mengembangkan dan memperkuat hubungan dengan orang-orang yang anda kenal itu. Sebab banyak teman, tak ada ruginya.

Multiply Your Marketing Like a Virus

n today's Internet, conversations are cropping up all over the place. People are talking. They are talking about products. They are talking about businesses. And they are certainly talking about their experiences.

When you look at how blogs, forums and social networking sites have exploded in the last few years, you can see how powerful word-of-mouth is. But the question is, is it all really important? Can it really help your business?

Yes.


And I'm not talking about traffic. And you don't need to be controversial, either. I'm talking creating systems to leverage, manage and profit from the "buzz."

Word-of-mouth is one of the most powerful lead and business generation processes there is. Online, some people call it "word-of-mouse." But we know it more as viral marketing.

Viral marketing is the process of implementing means or tools through which the knowledge of your existence self- propagates. Like a virus, your visibility spreads throughout a network of people who refer you to each other.

Notwithstanding the power of backlinking, traffic and SEO, viral marketing is key for a number of reasons. Success in the offline world is "location, location, location." The Internet is no different. Your success depends highly on the number of locations you appear online - places on which your site, link, company or product name exist.

In essence, to expand your reach, you need to be in as many places as possible, talked about by as many people as possible and be in front of as many eyeballs as possible.

With viral marketing, there are three ways of doing it:

Create content
Create applications
Create systems

The first is self-explanatory. Your content may be controversial or buzzworthy. It may create raging fans - or enraged enemies.

The second is simple: you create an application — whether it's a video, audio, file, software, document, etc - that people can pass around, and thus proliferates the knowledge of your existence on the web through other people's efforts.

I might write about these two at a later time. But for now, the one on which I want to focus is the third: creating a system.

Before I give you some examples, let me explain why word-of- mouth works wonders. Those who get to know you or to know about you through a third party grant you a higher level of confidence, credibility and loyalty. According to Dr. Robert Cialdini in his amazíng book, "Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion," this is social proof in action.

Remember a dictum a mentor of mine once told me, which is: "Implication is far more powerful than specification." In other words, if you tell people you're the best, that you're the leader in your field, or that your product is the best solution to their needs, your self-serving promotional bias makes it all suspect.

However, if someone other than you - whether it's on a blog, in an email, on a social networking site or in person - says to another that you are indeed the best or that you do have the best solution to their problems, how much more believable will that person's statement be? How much more credible and trustworthy?

The answer is "definitely more."

Accordingly, word-of-mouth is not only important because it creates an awareness of your business (let alone traffic), but also it is important to the degree to which third party marketing indirectly communicates greater credibility, superiority and value of the products or services you provide.

In his book "The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding," Al Ries stresses the importance of leadership and how that leadership is communicated.

According to Ries, people don't buy the best - they only think they do. They usually buy the leader (or what they perceive as being the best). And that perception is often molded by what they are told and by what others do, not by what is fact or by what is being advertised.

Coke, for example, outsells Pepsi. But according to Ries, taste tests reveal that Pepsi is the better tasting brand. So, why does Coke still beat Pepsi in sales? It is not because it is the leader in the marketplace or promoted itself as such but because it is known as the leader. And the reason it is known as the leader is because Coke was the first cola "in the mind" of the marketplace.

It is the one most talked about, even to this day. When a person is introduced to cola for the first time, they are often told to try Coke. Restaurant patrons still ask for "coke," even when Pepsi is the only cola served. Why is that? While other colas are bombarding them with marketing messages, people have heard of Coke first, and most likely from other people.

Consequently, if people hear about you from other people, and not some advertisement or pitch, this social proof will create not only a certain buzzworthiness about you but also an almost instant trustworthiness.

How do you do that? The most significant method is to be the first. If your business or website is unique, focuses on a niche or is the first in some category, the knowledge of your existence will spread quite naturally, almost like wildfire. It becomes viral in and of itself, in other words.

Now, I'm not saying you need to be new. I'm only saying you need to be unique. Or better yet, you need to be the first. Whether it's catering an existing product to a new niche, or adding a new twist to an existing product, you become the first.

I said it before: don't be the best, be the first. But more important, as Ries pointed out, "Don't be the first in the marketplace, be the first in the MIND of the marketplace."

That said, there are ways to use systems that will leverage the spreading of that message, on the other hand, which helps to multiply your marketing punch. Such systems both simulate and stimulate word-of-mouth advertising.

Networking systems, for example, include strategic marketing alliances, joint ventures, and affiliate programs. And unlike the more traditional traffic generators such as ads and search engines, these specific tools are much more effective since they are used by third parties and not by the original advertiser.

Things To Keep In Mind When Promoting Your Blog Through Comments

Many bloggers use to leave comments in someone else's blog to promote their blogs. That's not a bad idea. If you post a comment on some article with a link back to your blog you may have at least one visit. But between promotion and spam there's a fine line so here is a short list of things to keep in mind if you want to promote your blog using comments:


* Say something relevant: I've seen lots of comments just saying "visit my blog" or even worse, some posts comments saying nothing. Most people will consider such comments as spam. If you have never seen this type of comment is because most bloggers delete them as soon as they read them. Even if those comments were not deleted, few follow a link on a stupid comment.
* Be polite: You can express any idea politely, even if you disagree with the author. Politeness is a sign of intelligence. You may possess the absolute truth, but some people will not trust in someone talking rudely. So, it's better to be polite if you want to attract readers to your blog.
* Use controversy sparingly: While most people enjoy a good discussion based on interesting ideas really few of them likes stupid controversy. If you create controversy where none exists you may attract some traffic but few regular readers.

Consider TrackBack: Have a long comment? post it in your own blog and notify the author with a TrackBack ping. It's like posting a comment on your own blog with a side effect, people have to visit your blog to read the comment. Most blogging tools have support for TrackBack.

Why More Traffic Should Not Be Your Goal

Are you one of those internet marketers who faithfully believe that if they could only increase the traffic to their site they could make a killing?

This is the way most people think. More traffic = higher profits.

But that’s not always true. If it is going to do you any good, it has to be ‘targeted’ traffic. What’s the difference?

Targeted traffic consists of people who are interested in your product or service and would be more likely to spend money to get it from you.


Non-targeted traffic consists of the rest of the world. These individuals are not interested in buying what you have and, therefore, will not part with their cash for it.

Since time and money are valuable resources, don’t waste them trying to promote your site to people with no interest in your product. Instead, find out where your targeted visitors spend their time. Then you can promote your site there.

For example, let’s say you want to promote a site called thebeachesofaruba.com and one way you will do so is by posting messages in online forums and including a link back to the site in your signature.

Now think about which forums you can post in. There are many popular forums that discuss internet marketing and they have thousands of members. That’s a large market, but it is not targeted to your website. Sure, some of them may be interested in an Aruba vacation, but its more likely they are on the forum to read about internet marketing.

A much more efficient choice would be to find forums that actually discuss Aruba, the Caribbean, travel, or some other related topic. The forum you find may only have a few hundred (or even a few dozen) members. But 100% of them are interested in the product, service, or website you are promoting.

Just two more important things to consider:

1. Always read the forum rules before posting. Not all forums allow links to be posted.

2. Do not just write one sentence posts just to get your link posted. That’s considered spam.

Instead, write useful and informative posts that will portray you as an expert on the field. People will be more likely to click on your link if you build a reputation on the forum first.

5 Hal yang Melejitkan Orang-Orang (Biasa) Menjadi Sukses

Kenapa keberhasilan tampak begitu mudah menghampiri orang lain dan tidak pada diri anda? Kenapa orang lain tampak begitu gampang mendapat apapun yang diinginkannya, sedang anda sekalipun merasa sudah berusaha SANGAT keras, bahkan mungkin jungkir balik ke sana kemari namun yang didapat hanya secuil.

Apa benar itu karena takdir? Apa mungkin mereka lebih beruntung dari anda?

Tentang orang-orang yang berhasil, dari pengamatan saya, mereka memiliki beberapa kesamaan:


1. Mencintai yang dilakukan. Orang-orang sukses biasanya berhasil di bidang yang dicintainya. Karena senang dengan yang dilakukannya, mereka akan menjalaninya dengan riang gembira. Tanpa ada paksaan. Itulah kenapa misalnya seorang seperti Ahmadun Yosi Herfanda dan Jonru bisa menjadi penyair dan penulis hebat. Karena mereka mencintai yang dilakukannya.
Lakukan apa yang anda cintai. Makin anda lakukan, makin bersemangat dan nikmat menjalaninya.
2. Berorientasi pada tujuan. Orang-orang sukses selalu berorientasi pada tujuan. Tahu mengapa harus melakukan sesuatu. Dan memfokuskan usahanya untuk mencapai tujuan itu.
Ketahui dimana anda sekarang dan kemana akan melangkah, dan tahu bagaimana cara mencapainya. Selanjutnya just ACTION!
3. Berkumpul di lingkungan orang sukses. Nasihat lama mengatakan kalau ingin harum berkumpullah dengan penjual minyak wangi. Berkumpul di lingkungan yang sesuai, bisa mendorong anda mencapai apa yang anda inginkan.
4. Percaya diri. Orang-orang sukses memiliki kepercayaan diri. Tanpa ragu mereka akan mengatakan kepada orang di sekelilngnya mengenai tujuan-tujuannya. Mereka mengatakan apa saja yang akan mereka lakukan dan hasilkan.
Jangan ragu, percayalah pada diri anda. Anda bisa!
5. Bekerja keras dan cerdas. Sekalipun berbisnis internet yang tiap harinya hanya menghadap komputer, namun jangan dikira kita tak perlu kerja keras dan cerdas. Tanpa bermaksud apa-apa, sekalipun saya bisa saja tak bekerja apapun sepanjang waktu, namun tiap harinya saya tetap mengalokasikan waktu bekerja. Sekalipun ada beberapa karyawan yang membantu, saya tetap ACTION. Saya tak keberatan bangun tengah malam sekalipun untuk mengecek email, blog, dan situs web.
Ya karena saya menyukainya. Saya mencintai apa yang saya lakukan. Saya cinta internet marketing.

Keberhasilan, kesuksesan atau apapun namanya adalah sebuah proses. Proses yang tak datang hanya dengan sekali ucap “simsalabim” maka berubahlah segalanya. Sukses adalah buah dari komitmen dan proses terus menerus untuk mencapai sebuah tujuan. Seperti besi yang ditempa dalam api, sampai akhirnya menjadi pisau atau benda lain yang lebih berguna.

Kesetiaan menjalani proses itulah kuncinya. Meski klise, namun sampai sekarang terus terbukti sangat telak terhadap hasil akhir yang ingin kita capai.

Dalam hidup segala sesuatunya memang tak selalu berjalan sempurna. Namun bukan berarti kita harus terdiam dan menyerah berpangku tangan pada nasib.

Cara Mudah Melejitkan Bisnis anda

Kalau anda mau mengembangkan bisnis, kuncinya gampang saja, asal… (tentu ada syaratnya dong J), anda harus mau terbuka pada perubahan.

Ya, PERUBAHAN…!

Dalam bisnis, perubahan adalah nyawa. Setiap saat kondisi dan situasi bisa berubah. Contoh gampang juga bisa kita temukan saat ini. Kedelai yang dulu mudah kita dapatkan, sekarang sulitnya minta ampun. Kalaupun ada, harganya pasti sudah selangit. Contoh lainnya, dulu siapa yang menyangka bisnis internet bisa sepopuler saat ini. Tapi sekarang, wuiih… ramai banget. Tiap hari muncul ribuan situs baru dengan berbagai macam isinya.

Perubahan itu merupakan hal yang sangat alami. Coba deh lihat hal-hal kecil di sekitar anda. Dulu mungkin di kanan-kiri rumah anda masih kosong. Tapi sekarang mungkin selain rumah tetangga juga ada toko, warung, tukang tambal ban, dan lainnya.

Anda sendiri juga berubah kan? Dulu ketika bayi masih netek ibu, tapi sekarang tidak lagi kan ? J

Intinya…akrablah dengan perubahan. Jadikan perubahan sebagai teman paling dekat anda.

Kadang mungkin sulit bagi kita untuk berubah. Penyebabnya bisa karena kita sudah terlalu nyaman dengan kondisi saat ini. Atau mungkin juga karena kita tidak tahu apa yang akan terjadi.

Seperti itulah memang dunia bisnis: selalu dipenuhi dengan ketidakpastian. Tapi jangan takut. Yang penting, agar bisnis anda bisa maju, anda harus secara konsisten selalu mengembangkan dan menjaga citra positif (merk dan produk) anda. Supaya tumbuh sikap loyal di hati konsumen anda. Dan tingkat kemajuan bisnis yang anda inginkan akan teraih.

Untuk mulai berubah, pertama anda harus selalu berpandangan bahwa perubahan adalah pendorong kesuksesan anda. Lihatlah perubahan sebagai hal positif. Cari tanda-tandanya. Kemudian… take action! Beraksi!

Tapi ingat, aksi perubahan yang anda lakukan harus selalu berdasar pada tujuan anda. Bila anda ingin kaya dari internet, tentu perubahan yang anda lakukan harus lebih mendekatkan anda dengan tujuan itu.

Juga cari cara yang paling sederhana dalam perubahan yang anda lakukan. Bisa dimulai dengan hal-hal kecil. Misal, jika anda biasanya minum kopi, gantilah dengan air putih yang lebih menyehatkan dan ekonomis. ^_^

Saya disini tidak sedang berbicara tentang bagaimana caranya membuat perubahan. Tapi saya lebih tekankan bagaimana melihat perubahan secara strategis dan melakukannya dengan penuh taktik. Jadi anda tidak asal-asalan dalam berubah, tapi dengan penuh perhitungan…

Tapi jika anda butuh resep-resep jitu untuk berubah. Lima tips di bawah ini akan membantu anda untuk membuat bisnis anda berkembang lebih baik.

* Tetapkan target yang tidak mudah! Kesejahteraan dan kesuksesan anda sangat berhubungan dengan pikiran (mindset) anda. Begitu anda sudah merasa dalam kondisi yang nyaman, maka segalanya akan berhenti. Anda akan berhenti untuk melakukan hal baru, mengembangkan bisnis anda, dan berhenti mencari relasi baru.
* Kembangkan dan tularkan kemampuan anda- Caranya ? Pelajari apapun! Bisa dari buku, koran, majalah, milis, atau apapun. Bahkan meski yang anda pelajari tidak berhubungan langsung dengan kemampuan anda. Misal, anda mengelola blog tentang ekonomi, anda juga bisa belajar tentang dunia otomotif. Dan kaitkan antara kedua sehingga anda mendapat pengetahuan baru, seperti mobil-mobil yang paling banyak dicari orang di tahun 2008? Atau model-model sepeda motor terbaru yang paling disukai konsumen? Tapi bagaimanapun, anda tetap harus focus pada keahlian/bidang yang anda tekuni. Dan satu lagi yang penting, tularkan pengetahuan dan kemampuan anda pada orang lain. Agar mereka juga bisa seperti anda.
* Cari ide yang luar biasa. Temukan pemecahan persoalan yang sampai saat ini belum ditemukan orang lain. Ya, ide yang mungkin sederhana tapi luar biasa karena dapat membantu memecahkan persoalan mereka. Kemudian sampaikan dan lakukan dengan penuh percaya diri walau orang lain mungkin menganggap anda gila…
* Dapatkan Nilai Lebih- Tidak masalah apapun yang anda tawarkan, yang pasti selalu tingkatkan produk dan layanan anda. Berikan juga produk-produk tambahan yang tidak konsumen bayangkan sebelumnya. Beri pelayanan yang melebihi harapan mereka. Sehingga mereka akan selalu merekomendasikan anda pada konsumen lain.
* Petakan Konsumen- Jika anda sudah melakukan langkah-langkah di atas, anda akan lebih mudah menaikkan harga produk anda. Sediakan waktu lebih banyak untuk berhubungan dengan konsumen yang menghasilkan penjualan tinggi. Dan cukup beri sedikit waktu bagi konsumen yang kurang prospektif. Sehingga anda bisa melayani konsumen potensial dengan lebih baik. Ingat, petakan konsumen berdasarkan penjualan, bukan lamanya anda berhubungan dengannya!

Sementara seperti saya selalu katakan, perubahan adalah nyawa bisnis. Begitu anda berhenti, maka orang lain akan menggantikan anda. DAN ANDA AKAN BERHENTI SELAMANYA!Saya tidak menakut-nakuti. Tapi memang seperti itu yang sering terjadi. Karena itu, begitu sebuah target tercapai, buat target baru. Bahkan mungkin target yang tampaknya impossible.

Seperti saya dulu bercita-cita ingin kaya dari internet. Banyak yang mencemooh dan menertawakan saya. Tapi sekarang target itu sudah tercapai. Dan saya punya target baru: saya harus membuat anda semua kaya dari internet…
Target baru akan membuat anda bersemangat lagi dan membuat hidup anda lebih menantang…

Intinya, jangan pernah merasa nyaman dengan suatu keadaan ! Selalu coba tantangan-tantangan baru yang akan membuat bisnis anda lebih berkembang.

Pelanggan adalah Nyawa Bisnis Internet Anda

Anda ingat berapa nilai transaksi pertama anda? Atau anda ingat berapa uang yang anda terima dari pelanggan pertama anda?

Jumlah yang saat itu anda terima mungkin tidak banyak. Dibandingkan penghasilan anda sekarang, jumlah itu mungkin tidak ada apa-apanya. Tapi anda harus tetap menjaga mereka sebaik-baiknya.

Orang sering lupa bahwa yang besar selalu dimulai dari yang kecil. Piramida yang tingginya mencapai sekitar 150 meter disusun dari satu per satu batu. Dan dibutuhkan 2.300.000 batu untuk mendirikan bangunan kebanggaan rakyat Mesir itu.


Tabungan atau kekayaan anda juga begitu. Meski saat ini jumlahnya mencapai puluhan atau bahkan ratusan juta, anda memulainya dari uang puluhan ribu. Begitupun di bisnis internet. Meski memiliki ribuan pelanggan, anda mendapatkannya satu demi satu.

Dan sekalipun sekarang anda memiliki ribuan pelanggan, anda tak boleh melupakan seorang pelanggan pun. Anda harus menjaga mereka sebaik mungkin.

Kenapa seorang pelanggan begitu berarti?

Kebiasaan belanja di internet menunjukan seseorang hanya membeli dari orang yang sudah dikenal. Mereka cenderung mengabaikan penawaran dari orang yang belum mereka kenal.

Dan kecenderungan bertransaksi dengan orang yang dikenal bukan hanya di bisnis internet. Di bisnis offline pun demikian. Pelanggan akan kembali membeli di toko yang pelayanannya memuaskan. Konsumen akan membeli lagi produk yang pernah dicoba dan sesuai selera. Dan konsumen akan lebih mudah membeli dari penjual yang dikenalnya.

Karena itu, jika suatu saat, anda berencana meluncurkan produk baru, pembeli paling potensial yang tidak boleh anda lupakan adalah pembeli produk anda sebelumnya. Mereka yang pernah membeli dari anda, berpeluang lebih besar membeli kembali produk anda.

Seorang pelanggan akan membeli produk anda dengan senang hati meski harganya sedikit mahal. Misalnya dulu mereka membeli produk seharga Rp 50 ribu, sedangkan produk terbaru anda seharga Rp 100 ribu. Jika mereka puas dengan produk pertama, mereka akan sengaja menganggarkan dana untuk membeli kembali produk anda.

Misalkan saja anda memiliki 100 pelanggan, maka dalam waktu relatif singkat anda berpeluang menjual 100 produk. Bandingkan jika anda harus menjual produk yang sama pada pelanggan baru. Untuk mendapatkan jumlah yang sama, anda perlu waktu beberapa kali lebih lama.

Karena itulah pelanggan adalah nyawa bisnis internet anda. Jaring pelanggan sebanyak mungkin, layani dengan baik, dan rasakan manfaatnya untuk perkembangan bisnis internet anda.

Make Money From Your Content Site

If you're a Webmaster whose site receives even a modest amount of traffic, you've no doubt dreamed of the untold riches that lie untapped in your traffic stream. The burning question is: "How can I make the most money possible from my Website traffic?" This article will help you answer that question, as we explore several of the most common and profitable methods that are currently being employed to convert page views into dollars:


*Traditional banner advertising
*Pay-per-click (contextual) banner advertising
*Subscription revenue
*Affiliate and CPA programs
*Text links

We'll finish up with a review of the finer points of online selling.
Traditional Banner Advertising
One of the earliest and most prevalent forms of monetizing site traffic is the ubiquitous online banner. Originally most popular in the 468x60 pixel version, banners are now available in many different sizes and shapes. In fact, the Interactive Advertising Bureau now lists 16 standard ad units in its guidelines. It's not hard to find a site that uses banners: CNN displays a 728x90 banner at the top of the page, eBay uses a 468x60 banner spot at top of listings pages, and AOL displays banners of various sizes throughout the site.
Business Model and Mechanics
The basic business model of the banner is simple: the Website vendor sells page views (impressions) to the advertiser. There are 2 basic banner ad payment models: paying as you go for every thousand impressions delivered, and a flat fee that's charged regardless of the number of visitors who actually see the ad.
Under the pay-as-you-go model, the most common metric is cost-per-thousand (impressions), also known as CPM. Prices will vary depending on targeting, volume, term of commitment, and market forces. Typical CPMs for less targeted inventory can range from $0.25 to $5.00 per thousand impressions. Therefore, a media buyer who wishes to purchase 100,000 impressions at a $5 CPM will sign a contract for $5,000. Targeted impressions are worth much more to an advertiser. If your site attracts car enthusiasts who are an attractive demographic for a local or national car dealership, you can expect to command 10 times the rate of untargeted ad inventory. Typical CPMs for targeted inventory run between $10 to over $100 per thousand impressions.

It's also common for a site to charge a media buyer a flat fee for an advertising spot. Depending on the placement and traffic, the fees can be quite high. For instance, a fixed placement on the home page, in a prominent spot, with a 100% share of voice on a targeted site is quite desirable.
The advantage of running banner advertising on your site is that you may be able to get paid purely on the basis of page views, thereby monetizing all your available inventory. The drawback may be that not everyone is willing to pay simply to be seen: often, advertisers demand a response to the advertising. Media buyers may be looking for a per-click type of payment arrangement.
The main disadvantage of running banners on your site is probably the adoption of maintenance responsibilities for someone else's creative units, and the responsibility for a banner's performance even if the banner is poorly designed, or the advertiser's Website doesn't convert well.
To make real money from banner ads, it's essential that you have a clear idea of how many unique visitors visit your site, and how many page views they generate -- data that any decent Web analytics program will show. You then have a basis on which you can establish realistic expectations of how much money you might earn.
Next, decide where on your site you're going to display advertising banners. I would suggest testing ads both at the top and bottom of your pages -- this is a proven model that has worked well for large publishers. Once you've decided on ad placements, you should set up an ad server to display the banners, and keep track of pages views and click throughs. I would also suggest developing several banners that 'sell' the ad space, which can run when you have excess inventory. The banner might say something like, "See Your Ad Here -- Contact Us to Advertise," and link to your advertising rates page.
Once your ad server is set up, sell! This is a hurdle for many; we'll address it later in this article.
Pay-Per-Click (Contextual) Banner Advertising
With the emergence of Google's AdWords and AdSense programs, the business of pay-per-click banners has exploded. This type of ad unit offers the tantalizing combination of ease-of-use and payouts for each and every click, regardless of whether that visitor converts to sale or not. It's no wonder this unit is so popular with the likes of Slashdot, which shows PPC marketplace links on the right-hand side of the site's main categories and posts, and Go.com, which uses Yahoo! Search Sponsored Results to power its search function. And these are just two among many, many other sites.
Business Model and Mechanics
As the name implies, pay-per-click banners are ad units that pay out each time they're clicked (with obvious fraud prevention engaged to prevent self-enrichment). These ads are sometimes called 'contextual' advertising, as the ad suppliers will often regulate where specific ads are placed, to ensure that they're relevant to the Web page on which they're viewed, and the audience that sees them.
The bounty paid out on each click is usually determined by the value of that click as set by the advertiser. This is a nice way of saying that you really don't know what you're going to earn from any given click until you check the back-end reporting.
Don't neglect checking out alternatives to Google's AdSense program. While Google is large and established, many smaller services actually share more of the advertising revenue with you. For example, bidvertiser.com is one alternative that pays out at a much lower threshold ($10) than Google. Also, if you specialize in Webmaster or Web hosting-related traffic, a new service at Webmaster911 offers much higher revenue sharing than Google currently offers.
Subscription Revenue
Any site that has recurring or frequently refreshed content may be a good candidate for a subscription revenue model. News sites fall into this category, with the Wall Street Journal and CNN offering some form of subscription service for their online content.
Business Model and Mechanics
Subscription-based services migrated from the offline world to the online world. The most common forms of subscriptions were originally used for newspapers or magazines. The end-user of the news or information service typically pays a weekly or monthly recurring service fee (subscription fee) to have full access to the publisher's content. The practical implementation of this model online may work as follows.
A publisher offers additional coverage, or premium content that is only available to subscribers. Under this model, the content is usually in a special password-protected area of the site. A new subscriber may gain access to the content by filling out an online form including (usually) credit card information for billing purposes. Once the credit card transaction has been authorized, the subscriber is emailed a unique and secure password permitting access to the subscription-only content. Typical subscription fees are in the range of $10 per month. For example, CNN charges $12.99 per month for its 'NewsPass,' which permits access to premium streaming video content on the site. The Wall Street Journal currently charges $6.95 per month for access to online content for those not already subscribed to the print edition.
A hybrid of the pure subscription model is simply to charge an increasing fee as access to higher level services increases. This model is common in online forums, where additional charges are levied to access certain forums, or users' signature lines are expanded at higher fee levels.
Affiliate and CPA Programs
Affiliate programs have existed from the infancy of the Internet. Amazon.com was an early adopter, and was able to convince many Webmasters to offer relevant books for sale on the site in exchange for a share of the profits -- today, Amazon has an extensive affiliate program. Affiliate programs have matured considerably since then, and there are now many more options for making money from your site traffic.
Basic Business Model
Affiliate programs essentially work like this: the Website owner (affiliate) offers the merchant's goods for sale on the affiliate Website. When a visitor clicks through the affiliate link, an identification code is associated with the visit (usually via a cookie) and in the event that the visitor takes the appropriate action (visit, conversion to a lead, conversion to a sale) then the affiliate is paid by the merchant. The merchant or affiliate network will also usually provide tools for the affiliate to monitor various metrics, such as the number of visitors sent to a merchant site, the number of clicks or sales generated, and the earnings accumulated.
Affiliate relationships may be established either with each merchant directly, or through an established third-party affiliate network. The two most popular third party affiliate networks are Linkshare and Commission Junction.
Linkshare boasts that it has created the largest network of affiliate partners of any program provider -- over 10 million partnerships -- in addition to becoming the first affiliate network provider to achieve sustained profitability. Linkshare also lays claim to being a pioneer in online affiliate marketing. The Linkshare network is touted by the company as the largest pay for performance affiliate marketing network on the Internet.

Text Links
In this era of ferociously competitive search engine optimization, competitive online marketing, and the race to appear first in the search engine results, an active market has arisen in the buying and selling of text links.
The beauty of text links from the Website owner's (or seller's) perspective is this: in order to boost search engine placement, the link must go directly to the Web page that's being optimized. There can be no tracking mechanism, or third party ad serving to interrupt the click. Therefore, these links are not scrutinized in the same manner that more conventional advertising is. It's simply not that important how much traffic comes through the link, or whether it's really being noticed by site visitors at all. This means you can have the links tucked away at the very bottom of your pages in a footer, and use a small font. The links can be very unobtrusive to your regular site traffic: as long as your Website meets the buyer's criteria, they will continue to pay for the link. Of course, as the likes of the TopXML and phpbb sites show, text links can be cleverly integrated into a site's design to provide a prominent advertising feature.
So what criteria do buyers look for, and what are they willing to pay? You can check the spot market for text links at sites like http://www.linkadage.com/Auction/XcAuctionPro.asp.
Another benefit of text link selling is that you don't have to really maintain the 'ad' at all. As long as the link is active on the page, you've done your part. This is much less labor and resource intensive than building an ad server into your site, rotating ads, and keeping creatives up-to-date.
Finally, as if it weren't already a great deal, you can have up to 20 text links on a page without suffering any negative consequences in the search engines. So, even if you only sell your links for $25 each (read: cheap) you can still net $500 per month just for letting the links sit there.
A Word on Selling
Let's face it: even the most attractive inventory won't move unless someone gets out there and sells it. That someone may have to be you, if you're an entrepreneur. Many people view selling with disdain, or they hate the rejection that goes hand-in-hand with the selling profession. You've got to get over this in order to be successful in translating your page views into dollars. If you can't do it yourself, then work out a commission-only arrangement with someone who can sell your inventory.

Know your audience. Conduct a user survey and collect research when your visitors sign up for newsletters, pdf's, and registrations. Carefully profile your visitors. You may think you know who your visitors are, but you'll need to prove it to people, especially when HP says they want to buy up 10 million impressions from you for $50,000/month -- they'll most certainly want more than who you think is coming to your site.


Know your competition. Find out what your competitors are charging for their ad space, what ad unit sizes they are offering and what advertisers want. You may keep an eye on your competitors, as well, to determine their inventory churn or rollover. If you go back every 2 to 4 weeks and you see new advertisers all the time, it either means the site has a really aggressive sales person, or that it can't return results for advertisers, so clients are canceling.


Understand the language and understand the benefits and uniqueness of online advertising as an advertising medium. What's a cpm? What's a clickthrough? What does CPA stand for? A few months ago, we interviewed people for an online sales position and candidates couldn't answer those questions. Spend a little less time watching TV and a little more time reading Clickz.com, eMarketer.com, and MarketingFind.com, or check out adglossary.com. Industry knowledge and research can really help you move your inventory and sell online advertising. For example, I bet you didn't know that Internet accounts for about the same % of media time for consumers as TV now -- each accounts for 30% of their media usage time! However only 4% of media budgets are going towards online, while about 25% are going towards TV ...sounds like a pretty good opportunity to reach a huge untapped audience doesn't it?


Be creative! Online advertising is boring and predictable and doomed for failure if all you are going to sell is the standard 468x60 banner at the top of your Web page. Ever heard of banner blindness or banner burnout? It means your visitors tend to ignore the most common or basic forms of advertising online if you don't put some thought into their delivery and placement. You need to think about offering content sponsorships on your site, targeting your ads to geographic regions, day of week delivery, etc. Think strategic and offer strategic advertising solutions. If you have a section of your site dedicated to Web design, why not think of a creative way for a major brand's new Web service to sponsor it with customized buttons, content, or an online custom quote service?


Be aggressive in your sales...but be professional! And remember online advertising is not new, it's not trivial, and it shouldn't be given away for free or always be performance based. Don't be pushed around by arrogant media buyers who think that they can bully you into not paying their balance just because they didn't make 15 sales (not to mention the fact that they never signed a cost per acquisition agreement -- CPA).

For example, if you're selling Widget A and there's only ten people a day in your area searching for Widget A, you are not going to be very successful. If however, there are 100,000 people a day searching for a Widget A and you only have two competitors who also sell Widget A, then there is room for you in that market.

Below are some useful features of Google's keyword tool:

1. You can enter various phrases describing your businesses products or services into the search box. The tool will give you results on different phrases and synonyms matching your description. It will also tell you which search terms produce the largest amount of traffic on a monthly basis.

2. If you are targeting the entire United States then the monthly traffic column per keyword is very accurate. If you are targeting a particular state within the United States then you would need to divide that number by the percentage of population in that state.

3. Google's keyword tool also has a column that indicates the average cost per click for each search term. This can be helpful for forecasting how much to price your product or service. For example, if you are selling something for $10.00 and it costs you $10.00 to get enough people to your website before anyone buys your product then you need to rethink your pricing model. If however, your product sells for $20.00 and it only costs you $5.00 in advertising before someone buys your product, then you have a cost effective marketing campaign.

This will give you a good indication if it would be worthwhile for you to launch your business.

Another way to tell if there is room for you in a particular market is to look at your online competitors. Often times if their websites have not been updated in a while, it can indicate they are doing a good business. Also, if you have to scroll down to the second or third page of the search results before you find a decent looking web page, that can indicate a large market.
